A Wonderful Day

Mattias and Stina came to visit us today, they bought us a bunch of flowers,Katherine likes so much.We chated a little bit in the apartment and then little Clara felt sleepy but Stina told me that it's really hard to make her sleep so we decided to take a walk at the park.We spent a great time walking around the park lake in the afternoon, the wild geese seem not afraid of people at all,I took a pic of him,he was right in front of my camera displaying his strength to me... ...this's a funny goose. One interesting thing was that I found a chestnut,in Swedish called kastanj,on the ground of the park,Stina told me Swedes seldom eat it,but you know Chinese people really enjoy it.After that we drove back to my apartment and started to cook super for all of us,Mattias and Stina saw some pics we took in Beijing they said i was young then. After the dinner,I played Chinese Chess with Mattias,it's amazing that he could play it and seems quite good at it,i used to play some when I was very young, but I just know the rules but have no strategies,so I made some stupid mistakes during the COMPETITION (-; and at last I lost my game just got the silver medal.

Paris 6:Versailles

The school keeps busy this week,so i hardly have time to blog my blog. This afternoon Mattias,Davis and Tom came to visit us,we talked a lot about the book of Mormon and had a really good time, after the meeting, they tasted a Chinese candy, which was mailed by my mom from Beijing, called Haw Cake, this truly is a chinese candy, they seemed like it and Mattias also took one back home for Stina.haah~
I think I should finish our story in Paris as soon as possible
VERSAILLES,VERSAILLES,how I wish I had been a French royalty (-: we woke up early in the morning and made our way to Cimetiere Du Pere Lachaise to see what Chopin's grave is like (I like to play his waltz)then took the suburban train out the city to versailles,I have a question now is that Versailles is a separate town or just a suburb of Paris?Versailles is a cute little town as well as the towns here in Sweden,we went into a bakery to get a French dessert,it's really delicious.Chateau Versailles is right in the middle of the road. The queue to the ticket office was huge, but we were used to it,we waited for almost 1 hour to get into the palace and grab two voice tour guides, one in mandarine and one in English.Lin is fond of history, especially European history,we followed the radio and toured the various apartments of king and queen, the Hall of Mirrors, all the rooms opened to the public, everything was gilded and magnificent and reeked of wealth.
Then we headed out to the garden, this is a part of a house?i was wondering what the French King did in this huge garden, the flower beds, fountains and statues were gorgeous. It's a pity that we didn't have time to visit Grand & Petit Trianon which was dominated by Marie-Antoinette,Lin likes her so much and I love Lin so much.
I think I dont have time to upload photos, tomorrow~tomorrow~
It's mid-autumn day tomorrow,we are here in Sweden missing our family so much~~~~~~~~

Paris 5:Pantheon & Louvre

Continue our story in Paris
That was our fifth day in Paris, cuz we just had 3 days left,so we decided to visit some famous museums. We first took the metro to Pantheon in the Latin Quarter, the place where Foucault developed his pendulum and it still swings today, along with the burial place of Alexandre Dumas, Victor Hugo, Marie Curie, Voltaire, Rousseau and Emile Zola.
We then headed for the Louvre,we didn't take too long to get in,bought the tickets then started to meander around at Denon area,we didn't go directly to Mona Lisa, cuz we had lots of time, the day we went there was Thursday, and Louvre closed at 8.30PM(if my memory serves me).We went through Italian sculptures,Grecian art pieces,French Paintings and Egyptian arts which was Lin's favourite and saw many treasures,we found that all the artworks were amazingly preserved, golden mummy tombs are really amazing to see..but I think our camera didn't do them justice, there was so much reflection from the window,I tried to switch off the flash, but my hands keeping vibrating,so the pic was not clear.
We walked around Louvre for about 4 hours, then we agreed that it's time to visit Mona Lisa.We had a map of Louvre,so we didn't take so long to get to the Mona Lisa, along with everyone else,we bumbled our way on through and got the pic just in front of her,it's not as big as we expected before and it seemed it had faded a little bit,i meant not colorful like in the magazine, someone we met at the gate of Louvre said that a tour guide they had before said that if you were to spend 2 minutes looking at every piece of art you would be in there for over 2 years,It truly is an amazing place.

New semester

This is really a busy week,I accepted Per's advice to take a new course called biological interfaces in practice and theory, this is a new area to me,I am not a chemist cuz my major in university was civiling engineering and I didn't do much on chemistry then, but so far I have taken 3 lectures,it seems that everything is going very well,I am really smart:-).I heard that we would have a very tough course called surface chemistry properties of biointerfaces which will begin on 29th Sep,we would then have lectures almost everyday and we would do a great number of chemistry experiments, sounds horrible, but I like challenges.

Paris 4:Disneyland

That's our fourth day in Paris and we were on our way to the EuroDisney.we bought the 1day-2parks tickets for disneyland resort in a disney souvenir store at the avenue des Champs Elysees the previous day,we had to take the suburban train known as REB outside the city to reach Disney.(cuz we had bought the 5 circle weekly tickets,so we didnt have to pay extra fee).

We were so exciting that this was our first time to Disney,we all had a dream to go there when we were children,so we were ready to see what the real Disney is like. It's amazing arriving in a bright sunshine to Disney and looking at the Disney Hotel at the entrance to the Disneylank Park, but we headed our way to the Walt Disney Studios Park first. The entrance is nicely done, you just enter the park going inside, then it leads out(sort of hard to describe, but we did take some photos). We went directly to a ride called Hollywood Tower, someone told me that this ride is amazing,it's some kind of a simulated elevator freefall thrill ride, when we got on the lift, the conductor of the lift told us"wish you have a good time and see you soon,if you can come back alive(sort of)" everybody screaming, then she shut down the door of the lift,then... ...I now know that what the out-of-control elevator is like...
Hollywood Tower

The other ride we went on,actually not a ride, was Armageddon, special effect. You get to see how the special effects for the movie were filmed and at the end you go into a spaceship or a space station chamber and get caught up in a "real live meteor shower".I think this was not as exciting as the one we just rode.
Cars Rally

Main Street & Parade

The next ride was a disaster :-6,called Crushes Coaster, the stupid thing was that we waited for about 90 minutes to take that ride,we thought it was about a "Finding Nemo"trip,as a matter of fact this ride has nothing on the movie. You sit in a cute turtle shell, but this is just an appearance, you are strapped in with those weird flashes, you spin round and round and upside down while feeling the G force,Lin screaming all the while during this ride.
Pirate's beach

The last ride we caught in the Studios was the Studio Tram Tour:Behind the Magic. You sit in a normal looking tram and visit the sets from different movies. You also get to see some props and vehicles from movies, the best part of this ride was where the tram got caught in a waterworld set,you were sitting there looking around and then a sudden tons of water starts coming down the hillside towards you,and yes,you may get wet.

Railroad & Riverboat

Afterwards we decided to walk on over to the Disneyland Park. The Main Street was incredible, with the sleeping beauty castle looking stunning in the distance. We walked the entire park,we rode Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and "it's a small world", almost every ride in the park and saw 2 parades. The parade was great and we were amazed, seeing Buzz and Woody and Cinderella and Snow White, amongst all the others. We had an amazing day in the Disneyland resort, the park was really stunning,We will definitely visit it again.

Paris 3:Eiffel

I have been busy preparing my Swedish exam,so I had written nothing about Paris.I have finished the exam this morning,I suppose it would be a good result for me and now I could read and write some Swedish but speaking is also a problem.
Ok,back to the story, this was the third day we spent in Paris. After we had our breakfast at the hotel we headed along Seine towards the Eiffel Tower. It was about 10k walk we worked out later.
It was a great way to gather the different perspective of Paris along the river watching locals and tourists alike. We pulled up just short of the Pond Neuf to take some pics,a clear blue sky,the best weather in Paris, boats cruising the river, every one talking, laughing, enjoying this beautiful moment. We kept walking for a while and reached the Eiffel Tower.I just saw him in the book or on the TV before,he is a browny mushroomy color not grey as shown in most of the pics,he is magnificent and we were hooked. The queues were huge but we were prepared for the long time waiting.Unfortunately,we lined up for the South Pillar and what we didn't realize is that this pillar doesn't have the lift so we had to climb the steps. We felt very lucky after we had joined the umpteen people climbing the steps that the view on the steps was gorgeous and unique,I supposed you would never see this in a lift, one more thing was that it saved money for us(elevator 11eu,steps just about 5).At the first stop the view was rather impressive, the second was incredible, and if you waited half an hour longer to take the lift to the top i am pretty sure the view there would be amazing.(cuz we took the lift to the top(-:).
We took the metro to the Arc de Triomphe and took some pics then headed to the NEW Arc de Triomphe-Grande Arche de la Defense which is a minimalist, morden architecture built to stand in stark contrast to the Arc de Triomphe a couple of miles away.

Paris 2:Sexy Pimpidou

We woke up nice and early today so that we could see as much as possible due to our extreme excitement. This was our second day in Paris,we decided to go to the Centre Pompidou.I had heard so much and read some descriptions about it long time ago(you know my major is architecture),Pompidou is a morden, futuristic building, and I think what drove me to the centre was more the outsitd then the inside of the building. It was close to 9 o'clock when we got in the plaza of Pompidou, just right before its opening time, cuz we just wanna give us enough time to visit it.I could only use sexy to describe it when I saw him at the first sight.Sexy pipes, sexy connections, sexy escalator... ...I remembered someone told me that different colors of the pipes show the different utilities they have, but I just didn't remember which color stands for what utility. When we got inside,we found that he was not just the looking,I didn't know how many morden arts he has,but I feasted my eyes on works by artists such as Matisse and Picasso as well as hundreds of other thought provoking pieces.
daytime and nighttime

Paris 1

We set out from our apartment at 6 o’clock and got to Copenhagen airport at about 7.The baggage carrousel had broken down,so they had to check in the luggages manually, there was a long queue, cuz they just had only one check in desk, but we,fortunately, got on the plane on time.
The flight only took 2 hours from Copenhagen to Paris. We got two news when we arrived at Charles de Gaulle airport Paris, the bad news was our baggage was left in the Copenhagen airport, the good one was that we didn’t have to take it to the hotel ourselves. We got on the train to the heart of city after we had filled the property irregularity report at the service desk of SAS.

The day started overcast and cloudy, but as if to match our mood, the clouds broke and sunshine prevailed by the time we reached the city. After dumping off our luggage in the room of our hotel we grabed a city map of Paris at the front desk and set out an exploratory tour of the area.We planed to go to the place de la Bastille but it turned out that we got lost and took a very roundabout way.
We window shopped in almost every souvenir stores we passed by,after a while, we found ourselves alreay at the plaza in front of Notre Dame.We spent a few minutes taking some outside pictures of the cathedral but it was a pity that we couldn’t enter the nave, cuz it was closed.

We walked down to the Pont Neuf bridge, just a few minutes walk, but hunger drove us back to the Latin Quarter, where is filled with “authentic” french restaurants, many offering 3 or 4 course menus. We settled on one such restaurant, and dined on such French standards as beef bourgougne and mussels.Filled to the brim with rich French food, we walked back to the hotel, this was our first day in this magical city.
